CNDLS

Identity and site

Project

CNDLS, the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship, is Georgetown University's center for teaching innovation, research, and excellence.

Over the course of 2023 and 2024, the Digital Experiences team at CNDLS sought to renew the department's identity and online presence. This process started with a rebrand –including a visual and written communication style guide– and concluded with a new website.

I participated throughout this project as both a designer and developer, creating and maintaining a design system.

CNDLS website landing page

Our project had three goals for the CNDLS site – updated visual identity, faster and more reliable load times, and a democratized editing experience for writers throughout the department. To do so, we built an Astro-powered platform that compiles and deploys a series of text-only markdown files into a statically generated site.

The site is an ongoing project and is continually updated to adapt to new forms of highlighting faculty engagement. The visual identity has been applied to a series of CNDLS-supported projects and sites – such as the Teaching, Learning & Innovation Summer Institute and the Initiative on Pedagogical Uses of AI.
